How to play

Getting started

The first thing you'll need to do is to either log in or sign up. At the moment, you'll need a req.co.uk account (which you can sign up for by clicking "register" up at the top right hand corner of the page. Hopefully we'll also start supporting OpenID at some point (so you can use, say, your Livejournal account to play), but that's not going to be for a while yet.

Once you've registered and logged in, then you'll have a new "my games" link at the top of each page (along with details of how many games you have waiting for you). Clicking this link will take you straight to your Codex user page.

All Codex players have a set of personal pages. From here, you can read their profile (if they've told us about themselves), see their current score, leaderboard ranking, and number of games played this week. You'll also be able to see any challenges that they've received or sent, and can see what guesses they made for each game. There's also the option to send that user a challenge - we'll go into that a little later on...

If you click "personal stats" (just under the user's name), you'll be shown some details about that user's performance - things like how many games they've played for each of the last five weeks, what their scores have been recently, and any awards that they've won.

When looking at your own user page, you'll have a few more bits and pieces, including the options to request a solo game, edit your profile, or change your preferences.
